Happy Monday, friends! We are blown away by all of the support and positive feedback we received last week after our official launch of our blog. Thank you! We hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are ready for a new week!
Now that it’s a new week, we wanted to share with you some of our tips on how to have a productive work day.
1. Mondays
Most people dread Mondays and have a “case of the Mondays”, but we hope our tips will help you feel ready and excited about going into work. Mondays are a fresh start to your week and allow the opportunity to catch up, make ambitious plans for, and help you ease into the week. Create an action items list for the week. Keep this day free and try not schedule any meetings or calls, and instead take the time to get organized for the week to make sure you accomplish everything you need to do. And the goal is to get it all done!
2. Make Lists
Before starting each day, make a list you want to get through for the day. Be practical. Try not to make it too daunting of a list that might cause you to get overwhelmed and never actually start. Instead, start with a few important items and add on to the list for the day if you feel you have more time and are being productive.
3. Emails
Oh emails! Writing and responding to emails can easily take up the entire day and before you know it, the day is over and you got no actual work done. Then the work piles up and you start to feel overwhelmed. I am guilty of this for sure. Schedule times that work for you for when to check/respond to emails. I’ve recently started the habit of checking and responding to emails once in the morning, after lunch, and one last time around four o’clock. For the last email check, you can just read through through any no emails, but no need to reply until the morning (unless it's time sensitive). This enables you to get more work done throughout the day and accomplish your to-do lists. And overall, the work day is more productive.
4. Social Media
There are so many social media platforms there. We love them all! Especially instagram. Giving yourself breaks to check social media will save you so much time in your day. Instead of leaving facebook or twitter open on your computer, give yourself a time to check it. Same goes for instagram. We love following people and seeing what they are up to, but it’s easy to get wrapped up in scrolling through people’s feed and before you know it, 20 minutes have gone by (guilty over here!).
5. Take Real Breaks
We are all so busy, there’s so much to do and not enough time. We’re right there with you! Taking breaks is important to having a healthy work ethic and to your overall well being. Take a real lunch break, not eating your desk and still continue to work. Go for a walk, meet up with a friend or coworker for lunch or go on a coffee break. It’s not easy to do when there is a lot of work, but even a 15 minute break to just unplug while at work will help you reset, avoid burning out, and regain momentum to do your best work.
